Club Championship Rules

The following rules apply for the Club Championships run every Autumn

Age group for all swimmers as at 31st December.

Events

9 years/ under 25metres for all four strokes

10 years 50metres for all four strokes PLUS 100 metre Individual Medley

11 years 100metres for all four strokes PLUS 200 metre Individual Medley & 200metre Freestyle

12/13 years 100metres for all four strokes PLUS 200 metre Individual Medley & 200metre Freestyle

14/15 years 100metres for all four strokes PLUS 200 metre Individual Medley & 200metre Freestyle

16 years + 100metres for all four strokes PLUS 200 metre Individual Medley & 200metre Freestyle

ALL 100metre Individual Medley, 200metre Individual Medley and 200 metre Freestyle swims are Heat Declared Winners

Distance Championships

Girls

Junior 13 years and under: 400m, 800m or 1500m Freestyle

Senior 14 years and over: 400m, 800m or 1500m Freestyle

Boys

Junior 13 years and under: 400 metre and 1500 metre Freestyle

Senior 14 years and over: 400 metre and 1500 metre Freestyle

ALL Distance swims are Heat Declared Winners

Points

Each swimmer will receive 1 point for entering each age group event excluding distance. Points awarded as below on finals night

1st -6 points, 2nd -4 points, 3rd – 3 points, 4th -2 points

Finals

The fastest 4 swimmers will go through to the finals night plus a reserve for each event.

Awards

A trophy shall be awarded to the winner of each age group who has accumulated the most points.

In addition the winner shall receive a gold medal. Swimmers placed 1st – 4th will receive a plaque.

In the event of a tied score on points for the first place, two gold medals shall be awarded and there will be no 2nd place award.

A trophy shall be awarded to the winner of the Junior and Senior distance events. This event shall be run as a separate competition. Plaques will be awarded for 1st – 3rd places.

An additional trophy shall be awarded to each age group for the fastest freestyle swim held on finals night.

Eligibility

All competitors must have been members of Midlothian Swimming Club for a minimum of two months up to the date of the heats and have fully paid the appropriate subscription and training fees.

Competitors should compete in all events (excluding distances, which are optional) unless there are valid medical reasons, to qualify for any trophy or medal.

Distance Events

To be eligible for any distance trophy:

Swimmers must compete in two of the three distances (400m, 800m or 1500m)

Dates

Once the committee has set dates for all championship events these will not be changed for any swimmers under any circumstances.
