We’ve never managed to do a report for the 2007 trip but we do have this ditty from Tom Dryden……
Tom’s Song
When I was nine, I swam just fine, I went to Germany.
I climbed up aboard the coach and Irene said to me…
You swim this way, that way, forwards, backwards,
Down the swimming pool.
Ubach Palenberg is great and my host family’s cool!
***
In the morning, all a yawning, we went, the sights to see.
We climbed up aboard the coach and Diane said to me..
Is it this way, that way, forwards, backwards?
Down the motorway.
She always has a smile and something kind to say.
***
On Monday night, Daddy had a fright, when he was asked to swim.
He strutted in a coach’s shirt and said I’m going to win.
He swam this way, this way, this way, this way!
Down the swimming pool.
Now he’s got a medal, he thinks he’s really cool!
***
Poor Stuart has a problem, he cannot count past three.
When told to check the numbers, he always comes to me!
He goes ein, funf, drei, zwei…
He always gets it wrong!
At least he’s good with DVDs, though he can’t sit still long!
***
Now Willy has a special job, I have to tell you all.
He hurtles down the coach prepared, when he hears our call.
He has tissues, bags, wipes and mints,
Everything you need.
He catches all the vomit and clears it up at speed!
***
Irene carries everything in her many bags.
She has games and paracetamol even puzzle mags.
She hears our problems, moans, worries, jokes
She is our surrogate mum.
Anything that she can do, she will, so we have fun!
***
At first I was so nervous, even with my Mum
But all forgotten very soon, we were having so much fun.
At the gala, museum, zoo, maze
And Phantasialand
Parties in the evening, it really has been grand.
So now its thanks to everyone, my song is at an end.
I hope that I will see you all, next year when I am ten?
