Update to report from Colin – Gold Squad
There were 10 Gold Squad swimmers involved in the second round of the Leagues and they did extremely well.
In the first event, the 200m freestyle, there were excellent personal best swims from Jenny Jubb who reduced her time by 13 seconds, David Graham smashed the time limit with a 6 seconds PB and Laura Gray with a 2 seconds PB finished in 2nd place. Read the rest of this entry »
This is the 1st round of the Leagues for 2009 and although we did not have full teams for all ages the swimmers swam extremely well with many P.B.’s on the day. There were 27 PB’s with 2 swims just outside the swimmers times, 5 swims the first competition over the distance, and 1 swim too fast
The morning session kicked off with the younger swimmers 8/9yrs with Morgan Cockburn swimming her first 50m back, and Megan Bain just a margin outside her PB. Anna MacKay producing a 5 second PB on Breast, Bryony Eunson 11 seconds PB on Front crawl, Logan 1 second on Fly, Ian Doyle his first 50m Back, Andrew Denholm producing a 9 second PB on Breast and Leon Wadee 7½ seconds on Front Crawl. This meet took place at Glenrothes over two days with the 9 & 10years swimming on the Saturday and the 11 & 12Years on the Sunday.
This was a great meet and a challenge to a lot of the swimmers as there were many clubs competing and not knowing what to expect. After having such a great success at the Lothian Region Leagues only the month before it was hard what to predict the results at this meet.
With the clocks changing on the Sunday and the early start there were a few bleary eyed swimmers over the two days however, they did not let us down. They were all in good spirits and a credit to the club. Read the rest of this entry »
With the Midlothian Minnows meet fast approaching I would like to ask everyone with links to the club for any suggestions of potential sponsors for this event that you can come up with. Perhaps your employer (or your own business) would benefit from a sponsors advert in the meet program. Perhaps your employer has marketing merchandise that could be added to the prizes.
